I Was First Diagnosed with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy\Complex
Regional Pain Syndrome (RSD/CRPS) In 2006, By My 2 NHS Consultant
Orthopeadic & Trauma Hand & Upper-Limb Surgeons & They Said
I Had Probably Been Suffering From RSD/CRPS For Some Years Before They
Confirmed The Diagnose In August/September 2006,

& They Said The Cause/Trigger Was The MCI/PMCI

&
The MCI/PMCI Was Triggered By The Accident/Injury To My Left Hand/Wrist
While At Work On: 13-10-2002 - Pictures Of The Solid Metal T-Shaped Bar
At:
http://tinyurl.com/798o2u & http://tinyurl.com/a2p2mb

Sadly
Even Though I've Been Confirmed & Diagnosed With RSD/CRPS By My 2
NHS Consultant Orthopeadic & Trauma Hand & Upper-Limb Surgeons,
As Its Not Been Recorded In Any Of My Medical Notes/Records,

However
There Is A Reference I Might Be A Good Candidate Of Developing RSD In A
Letter From Miss. Ang To Mr. McCarthy On: 25-10-2005 -
http://reynolds1984.multiply.com/journal/item/27

So That's The Only Reference In My NHS Notes/Records To RSD/CRPS.

Hello. Was glad to find your site via the Aimoo Showoff Your Community Forum, of which I am a moderator. I was interested in your site because I was diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in 1988. By 2003, I was in so much pain that I elected for Carpal Tunnel Repair Surgery. It has been 6yrs, and I have been pain free since.

I would love to hear more of your story. Have you had the repair surgery? Was it orthoscopic?

Hiya RiverRatz :)

Thanks for your reply :)

Sorry to
hear you suffered from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) since: 1988 & suffered
for 15 years in Pain & Discomfort & without any surgery,

As I am
aware that
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) can be
surgically fixed/repaired by a normal G.P./Doctor, Consultant Orthopeadic &
Trauma Surgeons, General Surgeons, Consultant Neurologist, & Consultant
Orthopeadic & Trauma Hand & Upper-Limb Surgeons,

& Normally
the operation only takes ten minutes under surgery & anesthetic.

I am
glad you got the surgery in 2003 & it was successful for you, But normally
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) Release as a very High success rate & I'm a
little surprised no one suggested it early or you didn't seek for it.

I
am glad you found this forum, Its my am to raise awareness for all types of
wrist pain, discomfort, disabilities, & other stuff.

I have Mid
Carpal Instability (MCI)/Palmar Midcarpal Instability (PMCI) this is different
from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS), As CTS is a nerve problem surronding the
carpal tunnel,

Where as MCI/PMCI is an instability problem/disability
effecting the 8 carpal bones & 27 wrist ligaments, Causing the wrist to
become Physically Unstable & Causing Clunking, Snapping, Popping, &
Clicking of the hand/wrist joints & this cause abnormal bone on bone contact
to the joints such as the 8 carpal bones & the ulna & radius bones
also,

Which if not detected within the first 6 - 8 weeks of the injury,
accident, trauma, or the time it has come to light, The ligaments are often
repairable & has its not a bone injury it will not show up on X-rays or
MRI-Scans,

As its a soft tissue injury & requires special Physicall
Examinations of the hands/wrists & Special Stress & Test X-Rays where
The Examiner Applies Force to the hands/wrists while under the X-Rays,

I
suffered from MCI/PMCI through an accident/injury to my left hand/wrist while at
work on: Sunday 13th of October 2002 (13-10-2002) When a Solid Metal T-Shaped
Bar Fell from at least 2 - 3 feet onto my left hand/wrist without any
warning& my left hand/wrist would have also been at a tilt/angal due to the
way the slighted/tilted shevling unit was - http://wristinstability.multiply.com/photos/album/1/Pictures_Taken_In_Warehouse-Store-Services_Equitment_Area_On_-_14-01-2003_-_Album

I
was also made to work after my injury to my left hand/wrist, By My Store Manager
Sally Cannon for another 3 - 4 hours +

I never once sent to A&E my
employers at the time Marks and Spencer Plc & I didn't get to A&E until
the evening of 13-10-2002 around 21:06 p.m.

I've had a long complicated
history since: 13-10-2002

So I'll break it down quick:

Three Wrist
Operations to date:

1) Diagnostic Wrist Arthroscopy On:
29-10-2003

2) One Standard Ligament Tightening Wrist Operation With One
K-Wirer Through
Between The Triquetral Bone & The
Capitate Bone Done On: 17-03-2004, Followed By 3 Months In A Hard Cast &
Wrist Splint, & Then Continued Back To My Twice A Day Physiotherapy Finger,
Hand, Wrist, Arm, & Strengthening Excerises
(Unsuccessful)

3)
Experimental Wrist Operation Called: Arthroscopic
Thermal Capsulorrhaphy For Palmar Midcarpal Instability/Thermal Capsulorrhaphy
For Midcarpal Instability -
http://wristinstability.multiply.com/journal/item/12 On: 24-07-2008 (Unsuccessful To Date, But Has My Surgeon Is On A
Subbitical, None Of The Covering Staff Know Wheter It'll Take A Full Year, As
His Not Left Any Clear Guide Lines
)

I've aload of X-Rays & 2
Sets of MRI-Scans also
,

I've been doing
Twice A Day Physiotherapy Finger, Hand,
Wrist, Arm, & Strengthening Excerises, Since: 13-10-2002 -
Present,

I've been on Painkillers/Tylex since: 13-10-2002 -
Present
.

I'll never be 100% Pain Free or Wrist Disability Free & With
Each Wrist Operation there's an increased risk The RSD/CRPS could become
inflamed or flare up
.

But luckly my last writ operation on: 24-07-2008
hasn't increased The Pain/Discomfort,

But at the same time its Not
Stopped The Pain, Discomfort, Disability, I am already been suffering fromm
since: 13-10-2002 & nor has it got rid of the wrist instabilty, clunking,
snapping, popping, & clicking, wrist :(

Carpal Instability -
Later in the natural history of carpal instability,
static malalignment of the wrist and osteoarthritis will develop, both being
associated with significant morbidity and disability
http://wristinstability.multiply.com/journal/item/14

Luckly
to date I've not developed Osteoarthritis yet, But with most cases of MCI/PMCI
the patient will get it due to the abnormal bone on bone contact, due to the
wrist instability, which cause clunking, snapping, clicking, &
popping.

I was meant to have a limited or full wrist fusion, But My
EX-Employers Marks and Spencer Plc odd medical report & views/opinions in
2006, As slowed down/stopped me having a surgery I will benefir best from
according to The Worlds Leading Expert/Specialist In The Feild Of
Mid Carpal Instability (MCI)/Palmar Midcarpal Instability (PMCI) - Mr.
David M Lichtman - Consultant Orthopeadic & Trauma Hand & Upper-Limb
Surgeon, Who's from America - http://wristinstability.multiply.com/journal/item/9
& http://wristinstability.multiply.com/journal/item/10 & http://wristinstability.multiply.com/journal/item/15

I hope this helps answer some of your questions, I often save every
single letter, E-mails, Google Searchies, So on bad days, I just Copy &
Paste with My Right hand/wrist from Past E-Mails, Letters, Google
Searchies.

The Trigger For The Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy\Complex
Regional Pain Syndrome (RSD/CRPS), Was The Mid Carpal Instability (MCI)/Palmar
Midcarpal Instability (PMCI) & delays in treament/wrist
splint/brace.

A
Limited &/Or A Full Wrist Fusion Would Give Me The Best Success
Rate Of Getting Rid Of The Abnormal Clunking, Snapping, Clicking,
Popping, Of The Wrist, & Hopefully Reduce The Pain &
Discomfort, & Increase Strength, Power, Grip, But Loose
Motion/Bending/Flexing, & Hopefully Slow Down the Effects Of The
Wrist Disability
.

Well
I've been taking two 50 mg's Pregabalin a day since: Thursday 09th of
April 2009 (09-04-2009) & The 7 Day Pain Patche - Buprenorphine
Transdermal Patch @ 5 Micrograms an hour.

They seem to both be working helping The Pain & Discomfort in My Left Hand/Wrist, Arm, & Left Shoulder,

But
its not tackling all The Pain, But along with the 8+ Tylex Tablets
& Physiotherapy, It is helping me increase my typing, washing up,
& light cleaning.

I
am hoping has I've not had the throwing up or feeling sick side
effects, The Pain Specialist will hopefully increase both these two
Extra New Pain Drugs to the highest levels he can.

The
only side effects I've had is increased tripper dreams &
nightmares, increased wind, Feelinf Very Tried/Drowsy & Slower @
Waking up, Because I've felt so tried/sleepy since: 09-04-2009.

I
see The Pain Specialist again on: Saturday 09th of May 2009
(09-05-2009) for a check up on The outcome of My Extra two Pain Drugs
& His also going to give Me a Stellate Ganglion Block, So he can
see if its The RSD/CRPS Nerve or Non-Nerve-RSD/CRPS.

I can't drink or eat after midnight befor the injection & I can drink some water, But must stop @ 08:00 a.m.

I
really hope to see some other members or visitors posting on there
treatments for there RSD/CRPS, Pain, Or Mid Carpal Instability
(MCI)/Palmar Midcarpal Instability (PMCI), Soon :)

I'm going to get off & I'll keep everyone more updated in detail real soon :)

Take Care & Take It Easy :)

Has anyone else on Ablehere.Com or a close friend or family member,

Ever had a Stellate Ganglion Block Injection before?.

http://www.privatehealth.co.uk/private-operations/pain-management/stellate-ganglion-block & http://www.thh.nhs.uk/Departments/Anaesthetics/ChronicPain/Stellate_Ganglion_Block.htm

As I am having one on Saturday 09th of May 2009 & I am just wondering what I should except?.

& If anyones had it, How long did it last for & how often you have them, If they have worked?.

I've so fair been put on 50 mg Pregabalin tablets X2 A Day,

& 7 Day Pain Patches 5 microgram/hour - Buprenorphine Transdermal Patch,

These seem to be helping slightly, with My Pain & Discomfort, But its not tackling all The Pain Symptoms, But just seem to numbing them slightly, Which I am allowed to take on top My 8+ Tylex Tablets.

I am hoping to increase both My Pain Patches & Morning & Night Pain Drug to the highest levels I am allowed now through My G.P.

I've had some side effects to both drugs & these have been increased wind, increased tiredness/Drowsyness, & Trippy/Tripper Dreams & Nightmares, & One Trip on The Tube on: 12-04-2009.

But it still beats The Side Effects My Pain Specialist thought I would have, Which was throwing up or feeling like I was going to throw up.

I hope to hear from anyone who's been using or offered these Pain Treatments.

Hope everyone is well or ok :)

Evening/Morning Everyone :)

I'm a bit anxious about having My Stellate Ganglion Block Injection in My Neck on Saturday,

As I don't want to pin all my hopes on it getting rid of all my pain or helping alot,

I don't know how I'll feel mentally if it wasn't to help in anyway at all

I'm also anxious about going to hosptial & traveling, But at least its on the weekend, So My Boyfriend Jon will be with Me & be able to help Me relax/distract Me while I'm on the trains & buses.

I've not spoken to My G.P. or been mentally capable to phone him to book an appointment to get My New Extra Pain Drugs to be increased to the highest levels possible, Its also longer from Me to travel since My Mum became homeless in 2008 & moved into My flat I rent & She lives there bill & rent free since December 2008, I get someone money now, But not for bills.

So traveling from My Boyfriends to My G.P.'s just to get My New Extra Pain Drugs Increased to the highest levels possible, Causes loads of stress & aniexty & over an hour to travel for they way I am only mentally capable of doing.

So I'll have to ask The Pain Specialist for an increase of My New Extra Pain Drugs Increased to the highest levels possible.

"GOD I AM STARTING TO RAMBLE AGAIN"

I hope everyone else is ok :)
